Review of the 2009 Aston Martin DB9

2009 DB9

Introduction
An Aston Martin DB9 is the quintessential sporting grand tourer perfectly designed to stimulate the senses. This high performance car combines all the three important elements: power, beauty, and soul. These qualities are embodied in all Aston Martin vehicles. The DB9 comes in Coupe and Volante (convertible) styles, offering power, style, and functionality. Both the body styles offer seating for four. The DB9 gets magnificent exterior styling and a sumptuous, comprehensively loaded cabin, trimmed in the finest natural materials. The 2009 DB9 is a sophisticated and meticulously engineered car that features design and engineering innovations such as the organic electroluminescent displays (OEL) in the instrument pack and center console, for greater clarity and resolution, as well as LED rear lamps designed to project further and react more quickly than conventional systems.

Exterior Design and Special Features
The DB9's major body and mechanical components are made from either aluminum, magnesium alloy or advanced, lightweight, composite materials for lower weight and greater agility. Extruded aluminum bonded VH body structure, aluminum and composite body panels, and extruded aluminum door side impact beams provide the base for a high performance car strength. Dipped beam High Intensity Discharge (HID) headlamps, main beam halogen projector headlamps, LED rear lamps, and 19-inch alloy wheels are some of the standard exterior features. The cabin is luxurious and supremely comfortable, hand-trimmed in beautiful wood and leather materials. It incorporates the latest technology without resorting to superfluous controls or displays. Significant interior features include memory seats and exterior mirrors; electrically adjustable seats; heated front seats; heated rear screen; automatic temperature control; organic electroluminescent (OEL) displays; LED map lamps and ambient lighting; trip computer; cruise control; hard disk drive (HDD) satellite navigation system; Bluetooth telephone preparation; Aston Martin 700 W Premium audio system with Dolby Pro Logic II; a six-CD auto changer; and MP3 player connectivity.

Engine
The spirited performance of DB9 comes from an all-alloy, quad overhead camshaft, 48-valve, 5935 cc V12 front mid-mounted engine. This rear-wheel drive car covers 190 mph and is equipped with a powerful engine that generates 470 horsepower and a maximum torque of 443 lb-ft. DB9 offers a choice of rear mid-mounted, six-speed manual gearbox or a 'Touchtronic 2' six-speed gearbox with electronic shift-by-wire control system. The DB9 can accelerate from 0-60 mph in a brisk 4.6 seconds with the manual as well as automatic transmission. Independent aluminum double wishbone suspension is standard.

Safety
Notable safety features include dynamic stability control (DSC); anti-lock braking system (ABS); electronic brake force distribution (EBD); emergency brake assist (EBA); traction control; dual-stage driver and front passenger frontal airbags; front occupant side airbags; tire-pressure monitoring; alarm; and immobilizer. The convertible model also gets automatically deployed roll-over bars.
